Why should you choose a board certified plastic surgeon?

Dr. Whetstone is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is officially recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties as the only Board whose membership is limited to surgeons specifically trained in a rigorous and comprehensive plastic surgery residency program. The physician has to pass a rigorous exam set by the board in order to practice the specialty of plastic and reconstructive surgery. You have a right to ask about the specific credentials, experience, and training of your physician.

Do we use Board Certified Anesthesiologists?

Our surgical facilities only use board certified anesthesiologists, not nurse anesthetists.

What can I expect at my consultation?

Our focus is on personal attention. Dr. Whetstone understands that when you come to see the doctor, you want to actually spend time with the doctor, not just the nurse or other office staff. He spends an extended amount of time with each new patient considering cosmetic surgery to answer all questions and ensure that each procedure is fully understood. Computer imaging may be a tool used to help you in your decision.

Is there a charge for consultation?

There is no charge for a consultation with Dr. Whetstone. We do ask, however, that cancellation notice be given 24 hours in advance, when possible.

What are the costs involved with cosmetic surgery?

After your consultation with Dr. Whetstone, our patient coordinator will meet with you and discuss fees and costs for your desired procedure. If you have a specific date in mind for your procedure, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

Is it possible to have more than one procedure at a time?

Many of our patients desire several cosmetic procedures. More than one procedure may be safely performed at the same time and is very common. Considerable savings may result from having several cosmetic procedures performed on the same day. Of course, patient safety is our primary concern.

Will I see Dr. Whetstone before and after my surgery?

Many doctors delegate all the post-operative care to a nursing staff. Dr. Whetstone feels strongly about seeing his patients personally before surgery and in the post-operative care period.

Will insurance pay for cosmetic surgery?

Most cosmetic surgery procedures are not covered by insurance with a few exceptions. Patients may have a cosmetic procedure performed on the same day as an insurance procedure. For example, women who need a hysterectomy often choose to have a tummy tuck performed at the same time. Insert - There will be additional fees for the tummy tuck, however, you will avoid an additional recuperation period that you would have if you have the surgery at a later date.

If I am from out of town, are there accommodations available?

Yes. We provide assistance in making hotel arrangements. We have hotels conveniently located within walking distance to our office and surgical facility.
