EDUCATION
Dr. Whetstone is a 1983 graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he finished in the top 10 of his class and received the prestigious Mosby Award for Academic Excellence. Following four years of general surgery training, he was awarded a residency in plastic and reconstruction surgery at the highly renowned Cronin, Brauer and Biggs surgical residency program in Houston, where he received extensive training in cosmetic procedures. He also received training at the highly acclaimed M.D. Anderson Hospital, where he focused on reconstructive cancer surgery - including post-mastectomy breast reconstruction and microsurgery. Dr. Whetstone was very fortunate to have trained with world-renowned plastic surgery pioneer, Dr. Tom Cronin, inventor of the breast implant. Consequently, he has very extensive experience in breast surgery. Most importantly, Dr. Whetstone has the highest level of surgical training that allows him to be a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, reserved for the surgeons with the highest level of plastic surgery training.
EXPERIENCE:
When choosing a surgeon it is very important to consider the doctor's level of experience. Dr. Whetstone has been in the practice of plastic and cosmetic surgery for over 20 years. Dr. Whetstone has lived and practiced in the Las Colinas area since 1989. He and his wife of 30 years, Teri, have 3 children and 1 grandson. He is a family man whose interests include golf, reading historical non-fiction, scuba diving, water sports, college football and Dallas Stars Hockey.

Dr. Whetstone is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is officially recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties as the only Board whose membership is limited to surgeons specifically trained in a rigorous and comprehensive general surgery program as well as an extensive plastic surgery residency program.
Dr. Whetstone is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Texas Association of Plastic Surgeons.

Achieving desired results require not only careful planning, attention to detail, and advanced techniques but also requires a commitment from both the surgeon and the patient. We understand that confidentiality is of utmost importance, and my staff is committed to honoring your concerns.
Our primary goal is helping you feel better about yourself. We continually work to stay abreast of the latest and most advanced cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. PATIENT SAFETY is Dr. Whetstone's primary concern. He operates at fully accredited outpatient facilities and hospitals. He only uses physician anesthesiologists, not nurses (CRNA's or anesthetists). Most cosmetic and reconstructive procedures can be performed safely and comfortably without hospitalization. Specialized privileges and financial arrangements have been established for our patients at the following outpatient surgical centers where a team of highly qualified professionals assure that our patients receive personalized care.
Dr. Whetstone is committed to patient education and spends time with each patient in consultation listening carefully to his concerns and goals for surgery. He believes it is important for his patients to be well informed and wants to address your questions and concerns so that you can feel comfortable about your decision to pursue surgery. For this reason, we will provide you with informational materials that you can read and view in the privacy of your own home.
Following surgery, Dr. Whetstone feels it is important to see his patients frequently to follow their progress and answer any questions. He does not delegate this process to a nursing staff.
My philosophy is that you should be as pleased with how you are treated as you are with your surgical results. I strongly believe that a well-informed and realistic patient is the best surgical candidate. A harmonious physician/patient relationship - built on honesty and trust - provide the best opportunity for a pleasing and successful outcome.
